Are you Fully Charged?-Win a family four pack of tickets to The Greatest Show on Earth!

I love when Facebook and other social networking sites are used to get the word out about a great cause! The latest-Are You Fully Charged, is a safety initiative — undertaken by NYC regional office of Feld Entertainment, producers of the 141st Edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey (not-so-coincidentally titled “Fully Charged”) — to reach out to everyone everywhere to make sure that the batteries in your smoke detectors are — yes, FULLY CHARGED. Check it out at facebook.com/areyoufullycharged

As part of the initiative, anyone who visits contest.areyoufullycharged.com can sign up to receive an e-mail alert about smoke detector safety on March 13, which is when Daylight Savings Time begins (the traditional day for checking one’s smoke detector batteries).

Everyone who signs up will be entered to win a family four pack of tickets to The Greatest Show On Earth at the Prudential Center (February 23-27), the IZOD Center (March 2-13), or Nassau Coliseum (March 16-20).

Wave Hill Events: February 24–March 4

Photo: Joshua Bright

With the sun pouring through my window, open a crack to the glorious – yes, glorious — winter gardens of Wave Hill beyond, I can’t think of a better outlet than creating a miniature, tabletop landscape, a promise of green to take me through the last few weeks of this cold, dormant season of the year, at one of our terrarium workshops Thursday and Saturday. (And I am thinking that the terrarium workshop Thursday will be a wonderful President’s Week activity.)  Indoors, our winter workspace residency program has brought Glyndor Gallery to life, offering another naturally creative focus for artist and visitor. Some of the Winter Workspace public programs are drop-in, but many require registration (though they are free), just because enthusiasm for the program is running high. This past weekend families seem to have divided their time between the Family Art Project—another winner this weekend—and activities in the Winter Workspace. Continue reading
